I believe data journalism is under valued and that many more journalists should focus on the area of data to find their stories. It's actually more important than ever, since data protection and privacy is under threat from both governments and huge conglomerate companies who have no regard for keeping our data private. On the contrary they feed off of them.
If media and journalists in general could focus more on crunching data when reporting I believe it would have an impact on the world. People would begin opening their eyes towards what's actually going on to a much larger degree, and I believe that would be healthy.
Data security is the biggest frontier in the world at the moment, if you ask me, and I'm alarmed by the poor recognition of it by the majority of people. This means that journalists worldwide have an obligation to focus much more on it, and thereby get the message out in the world to a much larger degree.
What do you think?
